Tulsi Gabbard says no to third-party run against Trump, Democrats

Tulsi Gabbard says she’s in it to win it — but only as a Democrat.

The Hawaii Congresswoman and 2020 presidential candidate officially ruled out a run for the top job as a third-party candidate.

“This is a movement to take back the Democratic Party from corrupt warmongers,” she said in a tweet, paraphrasing her remarks to the Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit in Washington D.C.

“They’re doing everything they can to get me to run as a 3rd-party candidate so they can retain control of our Party. But I won’t. I’ll continue to fight to make our party & country of, by, & for the ppl,” she said.

Gabbard’s ferocious criticism of Hillary Clinton and public hobnobbing with Wall Street donors had fueled speculation in recent days that she might try her hand at a third-party run if she comes up short in the Democratic primary.

Last week Gabbard announced she would not seek reelection to the House of Representatives in 2020.
