Tip-jar thieves strike twice in Queens: cops

A pair of thieves stole tip jars from Queens’ cafes and punched the workers who tried to stop them, cops said.

The first robbery happened when the two thieves grabbed $40 in tips from Grill & Gourmet Café on Weirfield Street in Ridgewood around 4 p.m. Oct. 28 — then punched a 27-year-old worker in the face after he followed them outside, according to the NYPD.

In their second score on Friday afternoon, the pair made off with $100 from Café M, on Seneca Avenue just seven blocks away from the first robbery, cops said.

A 30-year-old woman chased the pair out of the cafe, but one of the thieves punched her in the face and they took off, according to police.

The NYPD released photos and surveillance footage of the suspects on Sunday.
